How hard is the Cascade Falls hike?

This is more of a nature walk than a hike and a great option for any age and fitness level. However, there are 50 stairs that you need to climb to reach the suspension bridge, which is the only way to see the waterfall.

There’s an information board in the parking lot and an arrow sign pointing to the trail, so you’ll be able to easily find the suspension bridge and the waterfall, without using an offline map.

When should I visit Cascade Falls?

You can visit the waterfall all year round. If you time it right, you might just have the chance to see the waterfall when it freezes over in winter. It’s also a popular option for a rainy day.

How big is Cascade Falls?

The waterfall drops 30 meters over a cliff into a pool of icy blue water below and then tumbles down another 18 meters through a ravine. Make sure you look on both sides of the suspension bridge.

Is Cascade Falls in Mission dog-friendly?

Yes, dogs are welcome on and off-leash. However, it’s best to keep them on a leash while on the bridge so they don’t hurt themselves.

What else is there to see apart from the waterfall?

Apart from the waterfall, you’ll also get to walk on a suspension bridge. It’s only 35 meters long but looks great in photos. If you want to get a great shot of both the suspension bridge and the waterfall, flip your phone horizontally and shoot from the entrance to the bridge. Or better yet, go to the middle of the bridge and ask someone to take this photo for you.

If you’re visiting on a sunny day and want to spend some time, head to the picnic area by the creek to relax or explore the lower falls. This is a separate trail but super short. If you can’t find it, you can check the information board in the parking lot.

How to get to Cascade Falls in Mission?

The town of Mission is approximately an hour’s drive from Vancouver. From there, it will take you an additional 30 minutes to reach the Cascade Falls Regional Park and the waterfall.

Google Maps has the parking lot accurately labelled so you can easily navigate there – just enter Cascade Falls Trail, Fraser Valley F, BC V2V 7G7 as your destination. We would recommend downloading the map to your phone as you will most likely lose the signal once you leave the highway and start driving on Sylvester Road.

Is it worth driving all the way from Vancouver to see Cascade Falls?

You will likely only spend 30 minutes to an hour at the waterfall, so it’s best if you plan something else for the day. You could visit Rolley Lake Provincial Park or Hayward Lake. If you’re up for a hike, The Hunter Trail Hike (which is easier) and Elk Mountain (which is harder) are good options.

Have you ever made the journey to this waterfall? If so, we’d love to hear all about your experience!
